PCMHA- Hockey Program sub-committee

 

Process to determine the feasibility an AE team within a certain division at the request of the parents.

 

EXECUTIVE MUST:

STEP # 1

Projected registration must be a minimum of 68 players in a division for the upcoming season before the process is allowed to continue. 

 

STEP #2

Executive must be able to identify a minimum of 34 (2 x 17) of the registrants as players who qualify and would be interested in tryouts for that age group and assure that at least 51% of the registrants would remain in Local league.

 

STEP #3

Evaluate the competitiveness of the AE team in the Belcot loop

 

STEP #4

Evaluate the impact of pulling out 34 players and creating two or three local league teams with the remainder.

 

STEP # 5

Examine the ice availability issue.

 

STEP #6

Consider the PRO and CONs and the recommendation of the committee.  Open discussion at an executive meeting.

 

STEP #7

Executive vote

Once the decision is taken- every member of the executive is responsible for explaining the rational of the decision speaking openly to the members about the process and the reasons for the decision.    We must come out a united front.

 

If the decision is yes, the executive will move ahead with the AE team following the outline proceedure.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PCMHA -    Policy for implementation of an AE team.

 

1.        In May, PCMHA will submit to the OMHA our request to ice an AE team.

 


2.                An interim coach must be selected to begin the season.  This coach must be aware that until tryouts are completed, we will not know if the AE team will infact be possible.

 

2.                All players interested in participating in a Rep team must attend a general Major / Minor tryouts.  

 

2.                A minimum of 35 players must be in attendance with the intention of playing rep, not just for addtional ice time.

 

2.                All players must tryout for the major team first. Only players released from the major team will be allowed to tryout for the AE team.and be rostered to the AE team. 

 

2.                The major team and AE team combined must keep a minimum of 16 + 16 = 32 players.

 

7.        The division with an AE team will have one full ice practice per team, and one practice where the AE and Rep team will share the practice.
